This week at the London Assembly

AMs will hold a series of public meetings this week
Mayor Boris Johnson will face questions from Assembly Members this week when the Assembly holds the first Mayor’s Question Time since the summer break.

On Tuesday AMs on the Health and Public Services Committee will question a number of witnesses including the Mayor’s Environment advisor and Thames Water’s Richard Aylard about plans to build a ‘super sewer’ under the Thames.

The committee will also question Ruth Carnall CBE, Chief Executive of NHS London, on how the impact of Government changes to the organisation.

In the afternoon the Standards Committee will meet to discusses the protocol on mayoral appointments and receive a report on expenses incurred by the Mayor, Assembly Members and senior staff.

Wednesday’s MQTs will be the last before Labour announces next week whether Ken Livingstone or Oona King will be challenging Mayor Johnson in 2012. The full list of questions awaiting the Mayor can be downloaded here. Follow @MayorWatch on twitter for live coverage of the meeting.

Immediately after the Planning and Housing Committee will hold a short meeting to “agree outstanding business”.

On Thursday the Budget and Performance Committee will question witnesses from the Metropolitan Police, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Cardiff and Kent Universities as part of its investigation into the future of front line policing.

Finally, on Friday the Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee published its report on the legacy role of the Olympic Stadium and Media Centre

Standards Committee – 3.30pm in Committee Room 5

Wednesday 15 September 2010
Mayor’s Question Time – 10am in the Chamber
Planning and Housing Committee – following Mayor’s Question Time

Thursday 16 September 2010
Budget and Performance Committee – 10am in Committee Room 5
