Parties in Glass Houses…

On his blog Welsh AM Peter Black laments the selection process of Plaid Cymru which sees female candidates placed ahead of male ones in order to address the gender imbalance.

It’s curious to see any LibDem attacking other parties for trying to ensure fair representation given that in London the party have done nothing to ensure a single BME candidate is placed high enough up the London list to be elected. (The LibDems have little realistic prospect of winning a constituency seat on the Assembly due to the sheer size of the constituencies.)

The presence of two Peers on the LibDem’s five strong Assembly group prompted one MayorWatch reader to ask recently “Are 1/12 of Londoners Peers?“
