Preparations for the abolition of the Metropolitan Police Authority and arrangements for the setting up of two successor bodies will be discussed by London Assembly Members this week.
The MPA is being abolished as part of the coalition’s plans to introduce locally elected police commissioners.
In the capital that role will be fulfilled by the Mayor while scrutiny of the Met and the MOPC will be carried out by a new London Assembly Police and Crime Committee.
On Thursday AMs on the Assembly’s Business Management and Administration Committee will question MPA Chief Executive Catherine Crawford about the preparations.
Only two further meetings of the full MPA are scheduled before it is abolished with some work expected to remain incomplete.
At last week’s meeting, Chair Kit Malthouse said arrangements would be made to transfer this work to the new bodies.
